A Girl & A Gun: Beginner Protective Rifle/Carbine & Shotgun

Class open to A Girl & A Gun Members

This nation was founded on the principle of a citizenry capable of protecting their families, homes, and communities. This course is built on that foundation. Over the span of one full training day, students will receive a beginner-level introduction to both the rifle/carbine and the shotgun, with each platform taught in its own dedicated 4-hour block on the range.

This course is designed to provide students with a practical foundation in two highly effective defensive firearm platforms and their role within an Individual Protective System. Instruction will focus on the safe handling, operation, and employment of both the rifle/carbine and shotgun, with an emphasis on close-range application, marksmanship, manipulation, and developing a protective mindset.

The rifle/carbine block will cover the principles of rifle marksmanship, close-range considerations, manipulations, ready positions, positional shooting, and rapid engagement techniques. The shotgun block will introduce students to the strengths and limitations of the shotgun, ammunition selection, loading procedures, patterning, recoil management, ready positions, and practical protective use.

Throughout the day, students will build confidence and competence while learning how each platform can be effectively employed in and around the home. Instruction is paced for beginners, with a strong emphasis on safety, sound mechanics, and developing good habits from the ground up.

By the end of this course, students will leave more knowledgeable and capable as armed citizens, with a stronger understanding of how both the rifle/carbine and shotgun can serve a protective role for themselves and their loved ones.

If you are using a red dot or LPVO on your rifle, back-up sights are highly recommended.
